Toothpaste & Lollipops is an initiative by the We Are Dorcas Foundation and is dedicated to bringing smiles, comfort, and essential hygiene products to children and families displaced by disaster. This humanitarian foundation strives to meet the immediate hygiene needs of children while providing cheer and a sense of normalcy during their most challenging times.
Meet the founder
Dr. Cassandra Hodges is a graduate of New York University College of Dentistry and a practicing General Dentist. Dr. Cassandra founded Toothpaste & Lollipops driven by her passion for service. She is a proud military and football mom, avid reader and tennis player. As a Central Florida resident, Dr. Cassandra witnessed the plight of families displaced by Hurricane Ian, wading through waist-deep water in Central Florida neighborhoods, destined to live in receiving centers for days or weeks at a time. This inspired Dr. Cassandra to create care packages that combine essential hygiene products with comforting items like crayons and lollipops. Her vision is to bring comfort and cheer to children in dire circumstances.
Dr. Cassandra has expanded her reach to support various communities in need. She has partnered with Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) to meet the needs of children and families. She has reached Silver Status with Candid, a nonprofit organization which maintains one of the most comprehensive databases in the U.S., offering a robust, accessible knowledge bank for the social sector. Her dedication to serving disaster-stricken areas and her compassionate heart have propelled the foundation's efforts to make a meaningful impact.

As the Toothpaste & Lollipops team supplies these comfort packages to crisis areas and first response organizations worldwide, their mission is clear: To provide basic essentials necessary that will allow children to maintain good hygiene and help cheer, comfort, and even thrive in times of unimaginable crisis. By coupling essential care with elements of fun, the foundation ensures that even in the midst of chaos, children can still experience the simple joys of childhood, comfort and familiarity that every child needs.
